A Healthy Work Environment

Someone was recently let go where I work and while I consider them a friend… I honestly feel they had a negative impact on the work environment. It was over all a weird series of events leading up to the action of them being fired, but the environment felt almost immediately relieving on those of us who constantly felt we had to take care of and correct the mistakes of our coworker while also getting all of our own tasks accomplished.

A healthy work environment can make all of life feel great and happy, so it is important to try to find it in your career. And I recognize that while my friend was not the best fit for this job, they are not a bad person. I am also happy to say they already found a job and seem pretty excited about it. I look forward to fun times together.

I am really feeling the inner peace this week. Happy work week my friends!

Yoga Everyday, Almost

Since getting married in the Fall, I have been doing yoga almost everyday. There were a few days when I was just too sick or too much else was going on.

I have been practicing yoga since high school, with some periods of down time or other fitness activities taking priority. I do not think I really stuck to a practice until I started following Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube ten years ago. She has just made it fun for me and presents it in a way that makes me feel like it is for everyone.

Yoga (almost) everyday has me feeling just as strong as all the weight lifting, HIIT and running I did when I started this blog. It is surprising to me, but I am also so grateful because HIIT makes me miserable and although I love running, it gives me shin splints because I have flat feet. No running shoe can completely prevent that.

I do not know if I will keep it up, but it is what I am doing for now and it makes me happy.

For the Love of Nut Butter

Have the things that bring you joy, that is what this post is about. I feel like I will scream if I see one more restrictive instagram post or youtube video.

Sure there are things we should have in moderation, but if you let yourself have them you will not binge eat them. I did learn this the hard way and part of my restricting was because of doctor’s orders, however, I now see I was going through something mentally and hormonally at the time.

I eat the things my doctor ordered me not to now without issues. Probably because I have a piece of chocolate now instead of the whole bar and that piece satisfies me until I want it again tomorrow evening. I let myself have it and it has made me want less.

So if you want that nut butter, let yourself have it (as long as you are not legit allergic). It is delicious.

Dealing with Feeling Exhausted

I had a 3 day weekend followed by a rough week and then one day off before I went back into my normal work week again. Only to come down with the stomach flu. I feel so exhausted. I was lacking energy by the end of the work day. I have been going to bed earlier than usually. My body is just tired, sick and I am trying to give it what it needs.

My partner is trying to do more around the apartment and we agreed to go out twice a week for dinner/lunch to help give me a break when I need it. I will also plan simpler, quick meals for dinner so I am not come home to work for what feels like an eternity. That is just one of the way I am adjusting for how I am feeling.

After I get well I will work on more. Stay healthy my friends!

Also, I just have to get this off my chest. We are New Orleans Saints fans in this household and WE WERE WRONGED! It would have been nice to see the Saints in the Superbowl, especial because they won the Superbowl our first year we were together. It would have been cool to say they also won the first year we were married.
