My partner and I planned the intimate wedding we wanted and got married yesterday here in New York with some family. It feels great, but not terribly different since we have been together since August 2009. We will have parties in our hometowns later to celebrate with everyone. For now we will continue our lives, but married.
I love Fall! And this week we are heading into peak Fall foliage colors here in New York state. Its beautiful everywhere you turn and takes my breathe away. And while I love the warmth of Summer, the cool chill of Fall with the beauty of its changes to the landscape makes me feel cozy and crave delicious warm bowls of comfort. I have been enjoying sweet and savory oatmeal, hearty soups and stews, and toast warm bread smothered in beans and topped with soft boiled eggs.
To top it all off, my favorite holiday is coming up. 🙂 Halloween, y’all! I hope you are enjoying Fall if you are in the northern hemisphere. I know I am.
Let me start this with, I have been tested for lactose intolerance and that came up negative. I know someone will likely try to tell me I must be intolerant, but trust me. I go through periods of eating a lot of dairy to times of not eating it at all and notice no difference.
I have never had an issue with whey protein powder before using Bob’s Red Mill Whey Protein Powder… I do not know if it is because I have been using the grass-fed whey protein powder from Promix Nutrition (which I had this yesterday without issues) for the last few years or what. Maybe grass-fed really is better?
I picked up Bob’s Red Mill Whey Protein Powder for a very reasonably price (58¢ / serving) and additional 20% off at Ocean State Job Lot. It is not expired. It tastes good too. However, 2 weeks ago it made me uncomfortably bloated and gassy.
I have loved many other Bob’s Red Mill products, especially their flours and oats, so I was surprised to feel as though the product that says “premium quality” is really of poor quality. Maybe it is because it is not grass-fed or maybe something about how it is processes just does not work with my digestion. I do not know, but I wanted to share my feedback. Also, people say I just love everything I review too much, so here is an example of something I do not care for.
I have lost 5 lbs over the last month. It was hard. I do not exercise more than yoga for 20-30 min a few times a week and hikes on Sundays. I have focused on eating well and only when I feel hungry. When I last lost weight in 2015, I was losing more like 8-10 lbs a month. It is a small success though and my clothes are fitting better because of it.
I am trying my best to go more with the flow this time. We have gone out to eat once a week and sometimes pick up a treat from a local bakery or ice cream shop. I just do not want to drive myself crazy with numbers and guilt. This happiness I have right now is just too important.
My partner is also trying to lose weight now. He is even cutting back big time on his candy addiction for the first time in the 9 years we have been together. Hopefully we will both see small successes within this month of October. I am quite happy with slow progress.
